Our Last Summer Family Activity

At the end of the schoolyear, all students get a free bowling pass that entitles them to get one free game of bowling a day for the whole summer. We used it a lot this past summer. On the last Monday before school started we all went bowling together. Here are some of the pics that ky took.

First Day of School

Today was our first day of school (for Ky,Kelsey and I). KyLeigh is a freshman and Kelsey is a sixth grader.

My girls really like to do quizzes on the Internet. They did this really fun one called what color crayon are you. So I thought it would be fun to post where they got it and have anyone who wants to take it and comment back with what color you or your whole family is. Hair cuts and styles

Today I took the girls to Salon Savvy to get their hair cut and get some color in KyLeigh's. It turned out great and both girls really like their hair. Julie(our hairstylist) did a fabulous job!

We're DYING to tell you this..........

On August fourth we went to the Ontario Auction were Grandma and Grandpa Packer work. They had told us that they had a very intersting item their that they were selling. Well to our surprise we found out that it was a coffin. We just had to get pictures of it................and in it.

Today is Wednesday, August 7th. The first official day of the Payette County Fair. The girls each have friends that are in 4H and have animals over there. I dropped them off at 10:00 this morning. They have fun wandering around with their friends and having lunch. I am going down for lunch today. The VFW makes the most awesome corn dogs!!!! I have to have at least one (usually 2 or three) each year. Yesterday it hit 98 degrees. Hopefully, it won't be so hot today.

KyLeigh had a birthday!!!

KyLeigh had her 14th birthday on August 2nd. She will be going into High School this year as a freshman. She had a few of her friends over on Friday night, the 1st. Ky shares her birthday with my step-mom Ruth. This is the only birthday that is a shared birthday. (Except my mom who has to share her birthday with Jesus. (December 25th). She had 4 friends over except one is camera shy so that's why you only see three.

Ok this is a long story. Emily gave KyLeigh I heart Nerds Socks(the candy not the actual nerds) So she wanted to model them. So her Friend Megan(while eating chips) put them in this picture. So both the sock and the chips share the spotlight lol.

Mini-Vacation

This past weekend we went to Twin Falls Idaho to go to the open house tour of the new Temple. We left Sunday early in the morning for our 2hr drive. The girls were very quiet in the backseat as they read books (they brought at least 3 each) and listened to their mp3's. We stayed at the Motel 6 in room 134. After unpacking our stuff we went to eat at the Golden Coral where KyLeigh hit the dessert bar pretty hard lol(cookies,brownie,ice-cream and a cupcake).


Afterwards we drove to Shoshone falls. KyLeigh took all of the pics of Shoshone falls because she had her camera.

The Temple was a really pretty,and great place.

All in all we had a great time in Twin falls. We even got to go to the Magic Valley Mall which the girls had a lot of fun at. We left Monday after going to the temple and drove home. Kelsey slept a lot of the way home but ky was awake through the whole trip back. We are really glad that we got to go.

Minnie

Here are some pictures of My kitten Minnie. Feel free to comment on this little cutie. Although she is cute she is a little evil-ish side to here. Like when she creeps up on you then pounces on your stomach early in the morning. What a wake up call.

New experiences

We got a new washer from Kingsbury's and its wonderful. KyLeigh ( being the mature teen she is) decided that she wants to do her own laundry. So today she washed her dirty clothes and her bed spread sheets and pillow case plus some of her sisters clothes. The only part that she didn't like was putting the clothes in her closet and drawers. KyLeigh also got a kitten. I told her that if she went on the trek that afterward we would get her a kitten. A friend of ours ( Jolene Fernley) had two cats that had kittens 10 total i think. So ky went out to her house a couple times before finally deciding on a really cute black and white female. The first day her name was Patches. By the second day she had changed her mind (no surprise there lol) So her name is now Minnie ( like the mouse ky LOVES Mickey and Minnie even though she is a soon to be freshman) She is 3 months old and is really active. Everyone loves her (except for our older cat Jazzmine who is 18 ) even kelsey who isn't really a cat person. Some days Ky loves the cat others she is frustrated and is busy putting band-aids on her cat scratches. At the end of the day she is happy though. Minnie can't sleep on ky's bed because instead of sleeping she likes to attack ky's legs when she moves so she has to sleep in her carrier for awhile but eventually will probably sleep with ky. Remember When..

I was downloading pictures to my computer when i found this disk of pictures of the girls when they were little, and after reading Kingsbury's blog about how their kids and our kids hang out a lot and she was looking for pictures of that i decided to post this and some pics. The school pictures are of KyLeigh going into 3rd grade and Kelsey going into kindergarten. Now KyLeigh will be a freshman and Kelsey will start Middle school as a 6th grader. I can't believe how fast they grow up. I remeber the day we were at Black Canyon (the pics at the beach) the kids built sand castles and then swam. The last pictures is of the

kids at the beach last year. As you can see a lot has changed. Please enjoy

Trek

I know its been awhile since this blog has seen something new. Well here it is:

I (Ky) went on the 2008 Ontario Stake Trek. I really really did not want to go. In the end though i went. We left Monday the 23 at 6:30 am ( really early for me I'm not a morning person) on a 55 passenger bus for a 10hr (actually it took us about 11hrs) to Wyoming. It was one of the longest drives I have ever been on. Oh, and we had to wear our pioneer clothes on the bus!! The first night we just set up our tents, ate, then went on an amazing small little walk to different stations where people would pretend to be a pioneer and tell us their story. Along the way we were checked for ticks! Which i know officially do NOT like!! Don't worry though i only had two and they were on my clothes thank goodness! Tuesday we packed up got back on the bus and drove for about 2-3 hours to Martins Cove. We stopped at Independence Rock. Which I climbed in a skirt(it was about 128 feet high) and i am terribly afraid of heights so i was surprised that i did it. After that we went to Martins Cove Visitors Center where we ate lunch got our handcarts packed and started on our first day of walking. We walked about 7 miles that day in the rain, wind, and hot sun. The weather in Wyoming is very unpredictable. We got to Jackson Campground and again set up our tents. I was in the Forsberg Family so i got to be with my BEST FRIEND Megan. We ate set up a fire and watched as guys tried to show off by cracking the bull whip(which if you aren't tall enough to use you can severely injure yourself). We went to bed around 10:30 because we had to get up around 5:00. We then woke up put on our pioneer clothes and started pulling again. We stopped to walk through Martins Cove. Which is a really nice 3 mile walk were you can really feel the spirit. We also crossed the Sweetwater River. It went up to about my chest/shoulder and im about 5 foot tall so thats about how high it was. The fourth picture is of Megan and I after the crossing. We then continued to walk about 5 more miles until we reached the Martins Cove Visitors center. We returned our handcarts and got back on the bus. Which drove us back to out campsite. Well that day about 3 miles into the walk i noticed my bonnet had come off somewhere behind us or at camp. We asked the people behind us but no one had seen it so we continued walking. After the bus brought us back to the camp i looked and looked but since their had been a big windstorm and tents had blown down i was sure that my bonnet was long gone. So I stopped looking and prayed about it. While sitting around the campfire for some reason i looked at the wood pile. There in between to pieces of wood and under one big one was my bonnet. I know that their was no way that that could have blown there, i know that heavenly father was looking out for me that day(especially cause I'm not that lucky lol) So the next day we got on the bus and left for Salt Lake (technically we left for Ogden) to a HOTEL AND SHOWERS!!!!!!! In my hotel room there was Deidra Hawker(who moved to Chicago and will be missed), Laura Foster, Ashley Graham, and myself. We stayed in room number 231 at the La Quinta hotel. That night we got to eat at the Golden Coral which was Delicious! Friday we went to the Ogden Temple which was a great spiritual experience for me. We did baptism's and confirmations. One of the pictures is of our whole word at the temple. We then got to walk around temple square, go to the J.S museum, Beehive house, conference center, and the history center. Then at 11:30 pm we left to come home. I had a really great experience and though right now i say I'm not going next time. I really hope i will.

Field Trip/pictures

Hey well today I went on my LAST middle school field trip. We went to the movies and saw Narnia 2 Prince Caspian which is really good and i recommend it to EVERYONE.. After we went to Primos. So the pics that i have are of my friends and me there and on the bus so i hope everyone likes it and don't forget to comment!! :)

KyLeigh's Last Dance

Hey, well last night was my last middle school dance!:( The theme was black and white. Since my friend Emily was coming over to get ready for the dance i stayed after school to help her and the rest of the student council decorate. We used christmas lights to string around the gym, and big sheets of construction paper to decorate the entry. Since we only had once big sheet of black construction paper we mad polka dots of various sizes to decorate the white sheets and put them up. It took us about an hour and a half to do it but we finally finished it. I wore a pink tank top with a white v-neck shirt, with my fave blue jeans, and to top it off my cute flower necklace. I had a lot of fun at the dance, i danced like crazy with my friends and slowed dance with one of my best guy friends Anthony G. Afterwards i went to my friend Melissas for her b-day hang out party.

Mother's Day

On Mother's Day Mom got a lot of cool stuff!!! 27 Dresses DVD, two shirts, a nightgown, gardening stuff, and, oh yeah, a phone. A camera phone!!!! We went to deliver Grandma Packer's Mother's Day present to her house. While we were there, their calves needed to be bottle-fed. KyLeigh and I jumped at the chance to make and feed the baby cows their formula!!!!! For dinner, we had steaks and hamburgers courtesy of our BBQ. Pork chops and mashed potatoes were also on the menu!!!! We hope everyone else had a good Mother's Day too!!!!!!!

Happy Birthday!!

Happy Birthday DAD!! Dad turned 30 on saturday!! The cat also had a birthdya but didn't get gifts just got love so Happy 18th to her! Although he had to work on his birthday we still hada great time. So ya. KyLeigh is doing better but is still upset about what she can't eat(popcorn and gum) P.S to uncle paul thanks for the comment and im going to get you so sleep with one eye open!!!!!!!

Brace Face

Well, today was the day that KyLeigh got her braces. She got them on the top and will get them on the bottom after she loses one more baby tooth. She was excited until today. Her bands are Purple and pink. She wasn't in much pain after and went to school after lunch. Although now(6:00) she is in much pain and very upset that she can't eat anything. Her favorite snack,popcorn, is something she is REALLY going to miss!! Although we all know she might sneak it in everyonce in awhile. More later bye--- The Millers***
